Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What is "SWAG"?
A: SWAG is a full service athletic challenge hosted by high schools nationwide and run by our trained SWAG staff. The event is typically run as a full day takeover of P.E., JROTC, and/or athletics class period, a before/after school team practice, or a summer training camp!
Q: What does an event look like?
A: SWAG staff will coordinate the date/time/campus location with a school point of contact, then arrive on campus approximately one hour prior to the scheduled event to set up equipment. At the start of each class period, SWAG staff will introduce themselves, conduct a short demonstration, then students will pair off to perform the drills instructed while using our SWAG Mobile App to test their performance. Near the end of the class period, our sponsor will speak with the students about available collegiate scholarship and vocational training opportunities they offer. This is informal and students can ask questions freely. At the end of the event our staff will pack up the equipment and make sure your space is returned to normal.
Q: Who runs the event?
A: Our professional SWAG staff members run the entire event with an assist. They are certified athletic coaches, CPR trained, and experts in engaging and motivating high school students.
Q: What do you need from me?
A: Nothing! We bring our SpeedStations, set up the equipment, lead the training and execute the entire event.
Q: Does a coach/school staff member need to be present during the entire event?
A: While we run the entire event, we do ask that you or another school representative be on hand for the duration of the event. Additionally, as student participation is key to giving your school the highest quality event we can provide, we do ask that you make participation mandatory.
Q: How many can participate at one time/how long does it take?
A: Generally speaking we can train and test an entire football team in about 1.5 hours. For PE classes we can test 64 students per hour, however, if you have large classes or short class periods, we can bring additional equipment in order to increase that number to meet your capacity.
Q: Does it matter where an event is held (inside/outside)?
A: The event can be held inside or outside, in the Gym or any manner of outdoor athletic field. Previous events have even been held in media rooms and on loading docks! SWAG is designed to require minimal space, about 1/3 of a football field and less than 1⁄2 of a basketball gym. Our equipment is safe for court flooring.
Q: Can other classes/teams participate as well?
A: Yes! We want to the make the day as memorable as possible so we invite/encourage other athletic teams and PE Classes to participate.
Q: Do the kids have to be athletic?
A: SWAG is designed to be an inclusive event where all students can participate and have fun! Top tier athletes will love the competitive environment of testing themselves on NFL-combine style equipment, as well as comparing their scores against those of rival high schools. P.E. students will enjoy the fun nature of participating on the user friendly equipment while competing against their friends and classmates.
